Life is made up of SITUATIONS that will test or push our LIMITS; there is no escaping the hardships that we have or will FACE. I experienced hardship from a young age like many others out there. Despite all the CHALLENGES I’ve faced, I have still managed to SURVIVE. In fact, I became great at surviving, but back then, all I REALLY wanted was to LIVE a life without fear of the physical and mental abuse that I suffered at the hands of someone that should have PROTECTED, LOVED and EMPOWERED me. In that part of my life I was surrounded by negativity which resulted in many years of abuse, anxiety, stress, low self esteem, poverty, illness, many failures and grief.
Despite all the pain and suffering, I CONSISTENTLY asked the question ‘How can I change my LIFE to make it BETTER?’ I would have to wait UNTIL I turned 16 years of age to receive that answer, however I never gave up on that QUESTION.
I found myself standing outside a door where all I had to do was ENTER. Easier said than done when the simple task of looking someone in the eye seemed like a BIG deal at the time. But I kept asking that question ‘How can I CHANGE my life to make it BETTER’. The feeling of walking through that door can only be described as JUMPING out of a plane with a dodgy parachute, it might open, it might not. How many of us have been in this position before where our GUT is telling us one thing, but the overpowering thought of doubt controlling our mind is saying differently. I’m GLAD to say on this occasion, I well and truly walked through that door and boy did that parachute OPEN!
As I walked through the door, I was greeted by TWO people that little did I know would influence my life in ways I could have never IMAGINED. These TWO people become the first positive influence in my life and we are still good friends to this day. These influential people have DEDICATED their lives to help people like myself through the useful source of MARTIAL ARTS and FITNESS in which I gained vital life skills such as Self Confidence, Empowerment and Positivity. Over time, this gave me the courage to BREAK FREE from my abuser and get the HELP I needed in order to live the life I WANTED. The fundamental principles in life skills, communication and confidence that I learnt from these two people have played a VITAL role in all avenues of my life to this date.
I truly BELIEVE that all my achievements such as graduating from university at the age of 32 and acquiring a POSITION not just in Adult Nursing but securing my DREAM JOB in Intensive Care is all thanks to that positive, influential impact during my MARTIAL ARTS career. As a result I’m dedicating the time I have, to help others through the experiences I’ve endured, in the hope that I can Motivate, Inspire and Empower others THROUGH LIFE COACHING, to construct the changes they require to make their lives better.
I was born into a negative and destructive world which was not my CHOICE. I had no say in the matter. But the LIFE I choose to LIVE now can’t be further from that dark time in my past. I’ve DEFIED all the odds, SURPRISED all the haters, FACED my abuser and INSPIRED the dreamers to make their own changes. I DREAM too; but the difference is, when I WAKE UP, I make MY DREAMS a reality. YOU can too.
